Troubleshooting
Troubleshoot TV Remote
Actionable fixes for the most common discovery, pairing, power, IR, mirroring and purchase issues.
My television is not appearing
- 1Confirm that the phone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi name.
- 2Avoid guest Wi-Fi because it may prevent device-to-device communication.
- 3Keep the TV switched on and awake.
- 4Allow local-network or nearby-device permission for TV Remote.
- 5Temporarily disable a VPN, private relay or firewall application.
- 6Restart the app, TV and router.
- 7Confirm that network remote control is enabled in the television settings.
- 8Try manual IP connection when supported.
The pairing code is not appearing
- 1Cancel the current connection attempt.
- 2Remove the saved TV from the app.
- 3Restart the television.
- 4Start pairing again while the TV screen is active.
- 5Look for an approval notification or device-connection prompt on the TV.
- 6Confirm that a previously denied connection is not blocked in the television's device-management settings.
The app connects, but buttons do not work
- 1Confirm that the selected TV family or remote profile matches the exact device.
- 2Disconnect and add the television again, then test volume and directional navigation.
- 3Some buttons are unavailable on certain models.
The app disconnects repeatedly
- 1Keep both devices on the same stable network.
- 2Disable aggressive battery optimization for TV Remote on Android.
- 3Confirm the app is permitted to use the local network.
- 4Check that the router is not isolating wireless devices.
Power-off works, but power-on does not
- 1Many televisions stop listening for network commands after powering down.
- 2Enable network standby, quick start, wake over Wi-Fi or the equivalent setting when supported.
- 3Some televisions cannot be switched on through a third-party network remote.
Android IR control does not work
- 1Verify that the phone physically includes an IR blaster.
- 2Point the infrared sensor toward the device.
- 3Remove any phone case blocking the emitter.
- 4Move closer to the device.
- 5Try another remote profile for the same manufacturer.
- 6Test the original physical remote to ensure the receiving device is responsive.
Screen mirroring cannot find my TV
- 1Confirm that wireless display or screen mirroring is enabled on the television.
- 2Both devices should be on the same network.
- 3The TV or receiver must support the phone's mirroring method.
- 4Restart both devices and temporarily disable any VPN.
The video is black while mirroring
- 1Certain streaming and subscription services use protected playback that prevents screen recording or mirroring.
- 2This restriction comes from the content provider or operating system and cannot always be bypassed by the app.
Premium access is missing
- 1Confirm that you are signed into the same Apple Account or Google Account used for the purchase.
- 2Open TV Remote and select Restore Purchases.
- 3Restart the app after restoration.
- 4Check that the subscription is active in the device's subscription settings.
- 5Do not purchase the same plan again before contacting support.
